The Amsterdam Declaration is now open for all to sign!
Credit: PeopleImages.com – Yuri A, via ShutterstockThe Amsterdam Declaration on Funding Research Software Sustainability (ADORE.software) has now broadened the criteria of who can be a signatory:
“The Declaration can be signed by individuals and organisations that support research software and/or the people who develop and maintain it. By becoming a Signatory, individuals and organisations publicly state that they agree with the recommendations in the Declaration.”
You can become a signatory in just a few minutes, or find out more in the FAQ. The Declaration itself also incorporates minor wording changes to reflect this, resulting in the release of version 1.1. There are no changes to the content of the recommendations, only to the criteria about who can become a signatory.
The motivation for this change was partly because it was becoming clear that stakeholders who were not funders also wanted to support the Declaration, and partly because it is hard for organisations to get internal sign-off; now the individuals in those organisations can still sign.
